With age comes a battery of health issues. Nevertheless, if adequate care of the body is taken from the offset, then these health problems can be staved off for the time being. Eye diseases

Another problem that chivvies senior citizens has been eye diseases that creep with age. Two of the common eye diseases have been Age-related Macular Degeneration (AMD) and cataract. Cataract can be cured via topical treatment or surgery.

Depression

Isolation, changes in lifestyle, loss of loved ones, and the like cause depression for oldsters. Further, depression can lead to lethargy, fatigue, impairment and many other physical problems.

Prostate Enlargement

The swelling of prostate gland is commonly found in aged males. The condition causes irritation and burning sensation while passing urine. Also, the flow of urine might appear to be sporadic. The condition, if not cured within a time period, can lead to acute urinary infection, bladder or kidney damage, urinary tract infection, etc.

Diabetes

The condition is metabolic in nature and found in people having high blood sugar level. The people who have diabetes either do not produce insulin or stop responding to it. The disease is incurable, but it can be checked with a change in diet and lifestyle as well.

Can Old Age Be Enjoyable?



A relaxed senior resident is one who has planned everything. Planning is necessary not only in terms of funds, but health also. Few key points are listed that help one make the most of old age ahead. Planning of old age helps in welcoming the remaining life with open hands. Nowadays, the concept of old age homes has gained prominence. The paid old age homes in Delhi promise the elderly to enjoy a respectable life during the twilight years. With the rise in the greying population, many senior citizen homes in Delhi have been established.

Financial security

Old age will be a happy phase if the elderly is not financially dependent on someone else. Therefore, it is wise to save for future from a young age itself. During young age, nobody finds it imperative to save for future. Such recklessness becomes the primary reason for people being dependent on someone else for their everyday needs during old age.

Take care of health

Being healthy should be the top priority on everyone’s to-do list. People should introduce regular exercises in their daily schedule from a young age itself. The exercising helps body become energetic even at old age. Old age should never be an excuse for a lackadaisical lifestyle. It is advisable that the oldsters should be an early riser and do brisk walking. Obesity is the last thing, which old residents want to be accompanied with during old age.

Communicate with friends
Interacting with friends during old age is believed to be a great stress reliever. An old resident should visit his/her friend’s home and, similarly, invite them over. Such interactions help in reliving old memories and finding solutions to some mutual old age problems. 

Keep a check on diet

A diet rich in minerals, vitamins, iron and calcium must be consumed by the oldster. The elderly should avoid eating oily stuff or food that has high fat and carbohydrate levels. Green leafy vegetables and fruits make a great part of a senior resident’s daily diet.   

Such factors should be harboured for sustaining the essence of life even during the final act of life.
